The Ubud day with the jungle swing

Hire Bali Driver packs the Monkey Forest, Tegallalang, a jungle swing, Tirta Empul, Tegenungan, the art market and Ubud Palace into one private 10-hour day. The real reason to pick it: the swing ticket and every gate fee are in the price, so you carry no cash for tickets.

Best of Ubud Day Tour with Jungle Swing

About this experience

This is the priciest Ubud day on our list, and most of the price is gates you won't pay on the day. Both bookable options, Best of Ubud (All Inclusive) and Best of Ubud (No Lunch Option), include the jungle swing ticket and all fees and taxes; lunch is the only difference. The summary on the listing still mentions a transport-only option, but none is bookable, so read the option name before you pay. $59 is the lowest per-person figure, for the largest group tier. A couple pays more each, and All Inclusive sits at the top.

Here is what the price covers at the gates: IDR 130,000 at the Monkey Forest, IDR 75,000 at Tirta Empul, IDR 30,000 at Tegenungan, the Tegallalang booths, and a swing that costs about IDR 250,000 to 400,000 on its own at the parks around Tegallalang. That's roughly $30 to $40 per adult you don't hand over in cash. Guests also report short stops the itinerary doesn't list, such as a coffee tasting, a woodcarving shop, a jewellery studio and a Balinese house.

Now the swim. The listing says you'll "cool off with a swim at Tegenungan Waterfall". Read that as a maybe. Swimming there is allowed only in the marked part of the pool, only when staff open it, and they close it when the current rises, which happens after rain and through much of November to March. You get 45 minutes, with 170 to 200 steps each way, so perhaps 25 minutes at the bottom. A wade at the edge is the realistic best case, and nobody goes under the falls.

  • Jungle swing ticket and all gate fees in the price
  • Seven stops, Ubud Palace and the art market among them
  • Lunch at d'Alas on the All Inclusive option
  • Tirta Empul, where guests report joining the water blessing
  • A private air-conditioned minivan for your group

My wife and I went on this tour and got to see so many different areas and highlights of the Ubud area. [...] The tour never seemed rushed and even though we started at 9am, none of the stops were too busy. [...]

Lots of very beautiful and interesting stops on this tour. Be ready for a lot of walking and stairs which might not be for everyone. We really enjoyed the experience but it did make foe a very long day.

He explained the workings of the temples in a way we could understand, since we literally knew nothing about them. We stopped at a woodworking shop and a jewelry design studio, both of which were fascinating. [...] It’s a full day, but worth it.

Tips before you book

  • Start at 9 am or earlier. One guest who did found none of the stops busy.
  • Pack swimwear under your clothes, but treat a swim at Tegenungan as a bonus. In the rainy season, expect the pool closed.
  • Bring cash for tips and the photo vendors on the steps. The gates are already paid.
  • Don't want the coffee or craft shop stops? Tell the guide in the morning.
  • Pick No Lunch if you'd rather eat in Ubud town at the end. The gates and the swing stay included.

Frequently asked questions

Can you really swim at Tegenungan on this tour?

Not reliably. The listing promises a swim, but the staff at the pool decide on the day, swimming is allowed only in a marked area, and the water often closes after rain and from November to March. You get 45 minutes, steps included. Pack swimwear and hope for a wade.

What do the two options include?

Both include the jungle swing ticket and all entry fees and taxes. All Inclusive adds lunch at d'Alas; the No Lunch option doesn't. There is no bookable transport-only option on this listing.

What does a couple pay?

More than $59 each. $59 is the lowest per-person rate, for the largest group tier, and two travellers pay a higher tier. Viator shows the exact figure once you choose the option and group size.

Can children do the jungle swing?

From age 9, says the listing. Children from 4 can join the tour at the child rate, which runs to age 8; from 9 they are priced as adults.
