Four waterfalls in one day, ending at Tegenungan

Your own car and driver-guide for four waterfalls south and east of Ubud: Tukad Cepung, Kanto Lampo, Tibumana and Tegenungan, an hour at each. It costs about what a basic Ubud tour does, and it's the only listing on this site with all four.

Four Waterfalls: Tegenungan to Tibumana

About this experience

Same operator as the budget Ubud tour, different idea: no monkeys, no rice terraces, just water. The listing runs Tukad Cepung first, then Kanto Lampo, Tibumana and Tegenungan, with 60 minutes at each. Tukad Cepung is the cave-like canyon where sunbeams cut through the spray. Kanto Lampo in Beng village is a 15-metre wall of black rock you can climb in ankle-deep water. Tibumana is a single tall ribbon into a pool you are allowed to swim in, and Tegenungan is the big one, broad and loud.

There are two options. Transport Only gets you the car, driver, water and Wi-Fi, and you pay the gates yourself: IDR 30,000 at Tukad Cepung, IDR 25,000 at Kanto Lampo, IDR 25,000 at Tibumana and IDR 30,000 at Tegenungan, so IDR 110,000 (about $7) per adult in cash. Inclusive Without Lunch covers those tickets; lunch is extra on both. The $25 from-price is per person for the largest group on the cheaper option, and Viator's tiers mean a couple pays more each. You only see the exact number after picking date, option and group size.

The weak spot is consistency. The listing has 71 reviews, and two older ones describe a driver swapping a waterfall: one guest was taken to Ulu Petanu instead of Tegenungan, another never got to Tukad Cepung. Confirm all four names with the driver at pickup. It's also a leg day. Tukad Cepung alone is about 20 minutes of steep stairs and Tegenungan has 170 to 200 steps, and the listing advises against it for pregnant travellers and anyone with back or heart problems.

  • Four waterfalls for roughly the price of one basic tour
  • Tukad Cepung's light shafts, best around 9 to 11 am in sun
  • Tibumana, where swimming in the pool is allowed
  • Kanto Lampo's stepped black rock, free showers on site
  • Private car with Wi-Fi, no strangers in the van

How the day runs

  1. EarlyPickup and drive north-east

From Kuta or Seminyak this is an hour or more. Leave early: the light at Tukad Cepung is best around 9 to 11 am.

  2. 60 minTukad Cepung

Steep stairs down, then a wade through the canyon to the chamber. Ankle- to knee-deep water, no swimming. Closed when the gorge floods.

  3. 60 minKanto Lampo

Five to seven minutes of stairs to a stepped rock face. Climb the wet steps for photos; free toilets and showers.

  4. 60 minTibumana

A tall single drop into a cold pool. This is the stop where a swim is allowed.

  5. 60 minTegenungan

The widest and busiest of the four, about 15 metres high. Staff decide on the day whether the wading area is open.

What guests say

★★★★★

The tour guide Yogik was very helpful and knowledgeable, he explained the locations and what to expect when there, I used that information to decide on which ones to go to first. He took really great photos and videos and was very engaging and informative through out the tour.

Tips before you book

  • Say the four names out loud at pickup, Tegenungan included. Guests report drivers swapping stops.
  • Keep the listed order. Tukad Cepung first catches the morning light shafts.
  • Wear swimwear and water shoes or grippy sandals all day. You'll be ankle-deep at two stops and maybe swimming at Tibumana.
  • Pack a dry bag for the phone and a towel. The spray at Tegenungan soaks everything.
  • On Transport Only, bring IDR 110,000 per adult plus small notes for toilets and parking.

Frequently asked questions

Are entrance fees included on the four waterfalls tour?

Only on Inclusive Without Lunch. On Transport Only you pay each gate in cash: IDR 30,000 at Tukad Cepung, 25,000 at Kanto Lampo, 25,000 at Tibumana and 30,000 at Tegenungan, about IDR 110,000 per adult. Lunch is not included on either option.

How much does a couple pay?

More than the $25 from-price each. That figure is the per-person price for the largest group tier on the cheaper option. Viator shows your exact price once you choose the date, option and number of travellers, and Inclusive costs more than Transport Only.

Can you swim at all four waterfalls?

No. Tibumana allows swimming. Tukad Cepung and Kanto Lampo are ankle- to knee-deep wading. At Tegenungan the staff open or close the marked area on the day, often closed after rain. Our waterfall tour guide compares them.

Is four waterfalls in a day too much?

For most fit adults it's fine: four hours at the falls plus the drives fills the 8 to 10 hours. The stairs add up, mostly at Tukad Cepung and Tegenungan. If your legs object, ask the driver to shorten the last stop.
